ABOUT ME

I became a birth doula to support whole-body healing during people’s perinatal transition. I focus on preparing my clients mentally and emotionally for labor and early parenthood, not just physically. My fascination with the birthing process has made me a passionate advocate for expecting parents, especially first-time moms.

I am fluent in American Sign Language and happy to work with Deaf/Hard of Hearing/Hearing couples! Please let me know if your primary language is ASL when inquiring about a free consultation. I will provide a qualified interpreter to ensure accurate communication between parties.

This experience is what led me to become a doula.

I want to support parents through their own journeys, empowering them with knowledge, offering steady reassurance, and helping them cultivate calm to reduce stress and anxiety.

I’d love to support you in creating your ideal birth experience. Together, we can build the foundation for a calm, confident birth journey.

In my free time, I love to hang out with my family, complete puzzles, binge-watch my favorite shows, and study foreign languages. I enjoy learning new languages and cultures. My favorites have been Deaf culture, ASL, Korean culture, and Korean. Music is almost always on repeat while I work or do chores.

My husband, Taylor, and I have two daughters, Sophie and Ellie. My pregnancy and birth with Sophie shaped me profoundly. Although her birth was beautiful, I spent much of my unexpected pregnancy feeling uninformed and unprepared as a young mom. Afterward, I struggled with postpartum depression and anxiety simply because I didn’t know what to expect or how to navigate early parenthood.

Qualifications

I am a certified perinatal yoga teacher, having completed my PYT-85 training through Whole Heart Space. This specialized education allows me to safely guide clients through gentle, supportive movement that eases aches, reduces stress and anxiety, and relieves physical tension throughout pregnancy and early postpartum.

I am a NICU-informed doula! As part of your prenatal care, we will prepare for the possibility of your family entering the NICU, which will remove the trauma of needing the NICU while not informed. NICU families have unique experiences. As your doula, I am equipped with knowledge specific to the NICU to facilitate your perinatal experience, regardless of where your family lands. I would be proud to be a part of your support team.

I am a certified perinatal meditation guide. I specialize in pre/postnatal meditation to reduce stress and anxiety, improve focus and sleep, and provide coping techniques to manage pain during pregnancy and labor for my clients.

Participating in a guided meditation at any point during your pregnancy or labor would provide multiple benefits. If you prefer to experience meditation with your partner, please invite them.

I also maintain a Heartsaver® Pediatric First Aid CPR AED certification so that I can confidently navigate emergencies.

“My experience with Jodie was such a wonderful one, especially as a disabled first time mom who had some special circumstances. She's a doula that really takes the time with clients, cares, and keeps a cool head: which was so much appreciated. I felt really comfortable reaching out to her for any/everything and I was so grateful for her expertise with explaining things to the layman. She offers fantastic tools to make you feel 100% prepared to be the best mom you can be! Thanks again Jodie!“

“Working with Jodie was one of the best decisions I made during my pregnancy. From the months and weeks leading up to my due date through a long and complicated hospital labor, she was a steady, reassuring presence offering well-researched tools and broader support. My birth unfolded very differently than I had hoped, including multiple days in labor and ultimately a C-section, and Jodie supported me with calm reassurance, clear information, and genuine care throughout.

She helped me feel informed and supported as plans shifted, held space for both my hope and disappointment, and supported my husband and me as a team through exhaustion and uncertainty. Even though this wasn’t the birth I originally imagined, I truly believe Jodie’s presence made the experience gentler and more grounded. I’m deeply grateful for her care and would wholeheartedly recommend her.”

  • Kassidy

Jodie was an amazing doula! From the very beginning, she was always available to answer questions and offer support. It honestly felt more like having a good friend walk with me through pregnancy. As a first-time mom, having Jodie by my side helped ease so much anxiety, not just for me, but for my husband too. From the power of pregnancy stones to essential oils, aromatherapy, meditation, and sound baths, Jodie offers a wide range of options to support you during pregnancy, labor, and beyond. Although my out-of-hospital birth didn’t go as planned and I ended up transferring to the hospital, Jodie never left my side. She offered unwavering support, comfort, and even helped deliver our baby. I truly don’t think I could have done it without her!”

  • Francie

“I had a wonderful experience with Jodie. She came for daytime postpartum doula care when I was in a super vulnerable place and just needed all the help. She took care of all the things, including me, with compassion and calming, positive energy. I'm a doula myself so my standards are super high. I couldn't be more grateful to Jodie for helping me get back on my feet when I felt at my worst!”

  • Kate

"Jodie is truly something special as a practitioner of guided meditation and sound baths. She has a natural sense of musicality in her performance of sound, and her meditations are thoughtful, excellently paced, and relevant. I feel deeply relaxed and almost hypnotized during sessions with her. Jodie is also a very approachable and sweet person, so it is easy to feel at ease in her presence. I enjoyed Jodie's group sound baths so much that I booked a private meditation and sound bath for my husband and I on our third wedding anniversary, and it was genuinely one of the most profound inner experiences we both have had in our lives. Highly recommend booking either, or both, a guided meditation and sound bath with Jodie."
